Weight Loss and Resistance to Change

Successful weight loss is difficult because it often involves significant lifestyle changes. Most people are creatures of habit and do not welcome these changes. But if a change in body shape and weight is something that you want to happen, then you are going to have to make changes to bring it about. Nothing will be different without changes in lifestyle, diet and activity levels.

So what do you need to change to make things start to happen by way of shedding some of those excess pounds? Well, the first thing you need to change is your mind! Without that happening, nothing useful will follow. Once you change your mind and accept that you cannot resist change while expecting changes to happen, then you can start to do something positive about your present situation.

Let's start by assuming that you've managed to make that important change and are ready to start doing some work. you will need information, so that you know what it is that you need to do. Some tips and tricks in losing it come in pretty useful here.

This article then must beg the question, "Are there really any weight loss tips that work?" Well that question comes up with one or two surprising answers.

The main reason for this is that everywhere you look online, there are hundreds, if not thousands of blogs all trying to tell you how to lose weight. Most are simply regurgitating what they've seen elsewhere and rewriting other people's articles, often badly! So how do you separate the wheat from the chaff?

Well, its not too difficult if you employ some common sense and think about what it is you are actually searching for in the first place. This will help you to avoid getting caught up in the crazy merry go round of useless, third hand information that is only there to pad out a bunch of hyped up advertisements selling a plethora of dubious paraphernalia.

You can easily spot most of the dross as it will be poorly written and tell you very little of what you really want to know. The worst type are those awful spun articles that get posted on hundreds of amateurish article directories that no one really ever goes to except to post more badly spun articles!

By spun, I mean an original article has been put through a piece of software that literally replaces a percentage of the words with synonyms that often completely alter and destroy the flow and understandability of the articles they vomit out in their dozens.

But enough of this diatribe about the poor state of the many thousands of awful articles that are about as welcome as a dose of diarrhea on a freezing cold day. I was going to try to discover if there are any basic tips for weight loss that actually work! Well, there is probably one that you can't really fault and its the basis of everything and once you grasp it, you'll realise that you really don't need to know anything else in order to be able to lose weight. It is this:

In order to lose weight, you must burn more calories than you consume.

Simple, isn't it? Yet so true and also so compelling. It tells you everything you need to know in a few short words, that all the garbage articles written by outsourcers that can barely write English waste 400 or so words to basically tell you the same thing. Or they would do if you could understand a word of what they're on about!

Once you have that simple but overwhelmingly powerful understanding in your armory, then you can move on to working with things that will help you to achieve that state of negative calories. Changing your diet is the first step and you can choose to work with a diet provided to you by a dietitian, or from a respected website. or you could go with a propriety diet program such as Nutrisystem or eDiets or something similar.

Lastly, then it's back to the original point about overcoming the resistance to change. Once you realize that you must change your mind before you can change your body, the rest really does flow into place quite smoothly. You just then need to take it one step further and get that mind of yours into a positive framework and adopt an "I Can" attitude, and you will surprise yourself at what you can achieve.
